THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
vulnerability connectsThoughts and concepts that pop up in our every day lives can help shape us as leaders. And real, vulnerable stories challenge us to connect us as humans. Explore how we’re growing and expanding our views.
Get Real With Yourself
Before I start, I want to say I am NOT (now or in any of my posts) seeking reassurance or sympathy. I’m simply sharing my inner dialogue to make myself REAL with you, hoping it inspires you to get real with yourself and those around you. I am also allowing myself to be seen which is part of my courage journey. I love you all.
An Emotional Hijacking
Just let me feel what I feel. Don’t try to make me feel better!
A few weeks ago, I discovered that my biological father passed away. (I was looking him up to see if he was still at the same address because a friend was wondering if she might live near him.)
Get Curious
I’ve pretty much always equated a football game playing on TV to white noise. (Chris loves football, so it’s on our TV often.) Despite cheering for pop-warner football as a young girl and attending several high school, college, and pro football games throughout my life, I have never been interested in football.
Disarm Your Anger
It was ugly. Chris came home from the grocery yesterday (a new role he has undertaken in our house) with a full trunk. Several minutes passed before I came downstairs to help him unload.
Focused On New Beginnings
Emma is all moved in now at Furman University. We are all adjusting to the new normal.
The Power of Focus
Chris stood in the doorway as I stormed off in a huff all the way down our driveway to take Winnie on a walk. I insisted on going by myself because Chris was being really crabby with me. My self-righteous rage and I got about 50 feet away before I stopped and woke up to what was happening.
